Another heads up!
One of the important aspects of the data RINS volunteers collects is that of vegetation in the areas we monitor. This data is crucial in learning about the habitat and ecology that the raptors live in day-to-day. It also aids in land management decisions that RINS helps make.
Every year a Plant Identification Field Trip is scheduled in order to help teach RINS volunteers the different plants and vegetation in the monitored areas.
Plus it’s just a fun field trip to participate in!
It’s already getting to be that time of year again!
The RINS workshops are an annual pair of meetings to help orient new volunteers with the RINS project and to continue to educate and improve the RINS experience for current volunteers. This years RINS spring workshops will be on the following days:
Spring Workshop I – February 26th, 2011
Spring Workshop II – March 5th, 2011
For current volunteers, an email with times and location will be sent to you as the time approaches. Others who are interested in joining the RINS Project should click on the “Volunteer” link on the main menu and fill out the form there.
A press release from RINS and the BLM are posted on the Press Kit page.
Thank you volunteers!
